Our friends, Willie and Kathy Zayas have two children, Marissa and Ryan. "Ryno" has a problem with his pelvis and hips and will be undergoing major surgery to correct the situation shortly. He will require a year or more in a full length body cast to keep him completely immobile while he heals.
Ryan's dream was to meet his favorite baseball team, the New York Mets, especially Third Baseman David Wright and Manager Willie Randolph.
Since we live in Florida, the Major League Baseball Spring Training Capital of the East, I made a few telephone calls, and together, Kathy and I managed to set up a date for Ryno to Meet the Mets!!
On March 12, 2008, the Zayas Family drove to Port Saint Lucie, FL to make Ryan's dream come true!!
The Zayas Family was permitted onto the field during batting practice before the game, and they took photos of the players, shook hands and got autographs!! It was a wonderful treat for everyone, and Ryno has lots of happy memories of that day to reflect on for the rest of his life!
